Hot color in the garden
Yep, it's summer...hot, hot summer. And the flowers in the back right now are, appropriately, blooming in flame colors. Mexican sunflowers (top) have the most gorgeous, velvety petals, and this is the first one to bloom. Below that: Turk's cap, firespike (started blooming this week), and golden cosmos.

Have enjoyed Firespike in the past, but had to give up on it cause it seemed to want too much water. Mine was always wilted. Really pretty when happy.
Mine does get wilty in the afternoon heat, but it looks good again the next morning. This one's also had 3 or 4 years to get established and gets mostly morning sun.
