Fall Asters

Fall asters (close-up)
Fall asters
These flowers produce an amazing burst of color for a week or two alongside my driveway, then they're fairly unnoticeable for the other 50 weeks of the year.

Today's fruit & blooms

'Juliet' tomatoes in a pot on the patio, straggling through summer.

The cypress vine came up from last year's seed, and the blooms are white, deep rose or red.

This variegated hibiscus needs to be repotted; it just started blooming recently.

I'm not sure what this flower is...maybe from the calendula seed that I threw out?

Chives and more

The chives in front started blooming a few days ago, and a butterfly has stationed itself there for the past day.

I've forgotten the names of this tender perennial (got it three years ago as an impulse buy), but I love the red flower spikes.

This succulent---Stapelia hirsuta or "carrion plant", I think---bloomed for a day last year (see right), and I just noticed three buds on it this morning.

Plumeria & Nasturtiums

So, after two years of anticipation, my plumeria is finally blooming this year...and it smells amazing. Here's the past couple of week's progress:

And here are some of the colors of nasturtiums that came up this year from seed.
