Garden Bloggers Bloom Day: November 2011

We had a beautifully heavy, much needed rain this bloom day. It's been a while since I've posted for GBBD, especially since the new house landscape is more dirt pit than garden. Ah, but the possibilities...

I do love the big patch of four-o-clocks (I think?) in the front, which look a little like popcorn when they open in the afternoon. And the fact that a ladybug larvae decided to join in the photo.

Happy Bloom Day, and don't forget to check out everyone else's yards at May Dreams Gardens.

I'm glad that you are finally getting some rain! You have some pretty flowers blooming for this Bloom Day. Is that Ruellia 'Mexican Petunia'? I'm attempting to grow one from a cutting. They are such a pretty color. And I do believe those are 4 O'Clocks in the last photos.

Yes, the purple bloom is a Mexican petunia and a true survivor. It made it through drought and 3 months of renovation, including guys digging in the bed to add foundation concrete piers. Once you get yours started, you'll be set.

I loved the second photo, with the raindrops and the lady bug larvae. I hope you have a better growing season next year.

I'm so happy for you that you got some substantial rain. Drought is no fun, so rain is a cause for celebration. Happy Bloom Day!

Yay for the rain! I love 4 O'Clocks! My mom grew them when I was a kid and I loved how they magically opened around dusk...and the wonderful fragrance!

I have friends near your area, and I know they are all still so thankful for the rain watering the parched earth. It is so helpful for photos too! Love the cyclamen!

My garden in new in the past 2-3 years, and I still think the most exciting part is breaking new ground for a new planting scheme I have dreamed up. So enjoy the space to dream!

Your photos are beautiful. Thanks for stopping by WMG!
