This caterpillar was sitting motionless on a broccoli leaf (in the bed below) for an hour. When I moved him to the butterfly weed, he went right into action.

how sweet! it is so weird to see these pictures and think this is going on not too terribly far from where i am, when here it's freezing and there's snow on the ground. it looks like summertime there except for the long shadows.
yeah, we've had several nights in the low 30's, but no killing freeze yet. the broccoli and collards love it. mmm, snow...
